Brian Snowden is an Educator, Writer and Artist. He was born in 1950 at the Naval Hospital at the Quantico Marine Base, but considers Charlottesville, VA his home town. Both of his parents, and many relatives going back more than a century, are from Charlottesville or surrounding areas in central Virginia.

Snowden has a BA in Spanish from the University of Virginia (1972), a Master of International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management (1975), and a PhD in Organizational Behavior & Development from the Union Institute & University (2009). He spent a semester abroad during his undergraduate days at the University of Seville in Spain.

Snowden spent more than twenty years doing international business for several manufacturing firms. He mostly was involved in sales, sales management and territory development. The majority of his work was done in Latin America where he visited virtually every country in the southern hemisphere, Central America and Mexico. He left the business world to seek a doctorate and spent the final fifteen years of his professional life as a professor of Business Administration at the Cincinnati Branch of Wilmington College.

His outside interests include foreign languages and linguistics. Snowden has studied six languages and is fluent in Spanish and Italian and has a working knowledge of French. He enjoys informal study of subjects such as Philosophy, Anthropology (in particular Paleoanthropology), History and Cultural studies.

Snowden in recent years has developed an interest in art. His mother was a painter, but he didn’t think he had the ‘basics of art studies’ to pursue art. But he decided to experiment with abstract art and discovered it was a perfect vehicle for his creative and artistic instincts. His art is best described as Abstract Expressionism, and he quickly points out that his work in the studio is “highly instinctive and is based on a stream-of-consciousness process, not unlike I use to write”, Snowden says. Snowden resides in West Chester, Ohio with his wife Julia who is originally from Peru. They have four children and ten grandchildren, all of whom are in the greater Cincinnati area.
