Carnsbury Abbey
about the Book
Henry Stuart is a successful businessperson and has a generally peaceful and stable life, including a solid relationship with his wife. A tragic event, in which people close to him die in a plane crash during a flight that he was supposed to be on, is an existential shock and forces Stuart to reassess what his understanding of life is. He seeks help by visiting a retreat in England that offers counseling to people who are suffering from traumatic experiences. He spends time at the center, Carnsbury Abbey, and develops relationships with the director, Father Clive, his counselor colleagues and other residents. Through lengthy discussions and therapeutic activities Stuart slowly begins to re-evaluate his life and search for ways to find peace. There are several ‘stories within the story’ that add perspective to the protagonist’s personal journey.
